US Attorney General Says Trump Would "probably" Leave White House After Second Term

(MENAFN) US Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that United States Leader Donald Trump would "probably" leave the White House after his second term, explaining that altering the Constitution to allow for a third term would be a "heavy lift."

During an appearance in an interview with a news agency on Sunday, Bondi expressed her belief that Trump's presidency would likely end after his current term.

When questioned about her choice of the word "probably," she clarified, saying, "We’d have to look at the Constitution," and acknowledged that changing it to permit Trump another four years in office would be an incredibly difficult task.

Bondi also added, “I wish we could have him for 20 years as our president.”

Trump, however, has mentioned that he is "not joking" about the possibility of serving a third term and suggested that "there are methods which you could do it."

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution explicitly prohibits any individual from being elected to the presidency more than twice, regardless of whether the terms are consecutive.

Trump is currently in his second term, which has led some of his supporters to propose that a third term could potentially be achieved through succession rather than through a new election.

Amending the Constitution to eliminate the restriction imposed by the 22nd Amendment would be almost impossible, as it would require a two-thirds majority in both chambers of Congress and ratification by three-quarters of the states.
