Iran Moves Next U.S. Nuclear Talks Outside Oman, Keeps Indirect Format
(MENAFN) On Monday, Iran revealed that the next round of "indirect" negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program will take place in a different location than Oman. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that while the venue may change, the structure and mediation of the discussions will remain consistent.
Baghaei pointed out that Tehran prioritizes the established framework of the talks over the specific location. He confirmed that the negotiations will still be conducted indirectly, with Oman continuing its role as the mediator.
The spokesman mentioned that Muscat will be responsible for coordinating the new site for the upcoming discussions and expressed appreciation for Oman's assistance in facilitating the initial phase of the negotiations.
Reports from Western media on Monday suggested that Rome might be the new location for the talks, referencing an Italian source involved in the planning process.
Baghaei also ruled out any chance of direct talks with Washington, stating that Iran does not find that approach effective. He highlighted that indirect negotiations are not a new concept and have been part of previous interactions between the two countries.
