UNRWA: Over 90,000 Displaced Palestinians Seek Refuge in UN-Operated Shelters
UNRWA stated, “An already dire situation is deteriorating due to bombardment and the siege blocking the entry of humanitarian and commercial supplies.”
As of March 2, 2025, Israel has closed all border crossings into Gaza, disrupting the delivery of essential food, medical supplies, and other humanitarian aid. International organizations and human rights advocates have reported that this blockade has severely deteriorated the humanitarian situation in the region.
The United Nations has indicated that approximately 420,000 people have been newly displaced due to the breakdown of a ceasefire in March.
On March 18, Israel resumed its military operations, leading to 1,827 deaths and effectively terminating a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been established since January 19.
As of October 2023, over 51,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have died as a result of Israel's extensive military operations in Gaza.
In light of the ongoing conflict, the International Criminal Court announced in November that it had issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Furthermore, Israel is currently confronting a genocide case at the International Court of Justice regarding its conduct in Gaza.
