Israeli Police Ban Photos of Dead Palestinian Children in Protests
These conditions include a ban on displaying images of Palestinian children who have been killed in Gaza, based on a report by an Israeli newspaper.
The "Standing Together" movement, which is organizing the protest, received a letter from the police on Sunday outlining that signs, posters, or flags promoting "violent or illegal activity" would be prohibited.
The police also specified that the display of images of dead Palestinian children from Gaza was not allowed.
In response, the movement stated that after facing a public outcry, the police had reversed their decision.
"Tel Aviv Police informed us that they prohibit us from displaying photos of Palestinian children in Gaza, killed by air force bombing, in our upcoming anti-war protest on Thursday," the movement shared on X. "After public pressure, they backtracked. We will not be silenced!"
Alon-Lee Green, co-director of "Standing Together," announced that the movement would begin a nationwide campaign on Monday, which will include billboards showcasing images of Palestinian children killed by Israeli airstrikes.
The police also banned the display of "hostage signs" and any signs using the word "genocide," as stated in the police document obtained by the newspaper.
Since the onset of the Israeli offensive in October 2023, over 51,200 Palestinians have lost their lives, with the majority being women and children.
