Students Protest Ahead of Israeli Minister's Visit
They set up tents to protest the scheduled appearance of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir at Shabtai, a private Jewish society that is not affiliated with the university, on Wednesday.
The protest kicked off at 6 p.m. (2200 GMT), with roughly 25 students participating.
They wore ribbons and enjoyed musical performances, as reported by the media.
As the evening progressed, the number of protesters grew rapidly, and by 9:30 p.m. (0130 GMT), eight tents were erected, defying university regulations that forbid the construction of unauthorized structures.
"We’re here, and we’re staying the night," a protest organizer proclaimed loudly through a megaphone.
