Putin Expresses Condolences Over Attack in Kashmir
The assault, carried out by four armed individuals, resulted in the deaths of no fewer than 26 people near the town of Pahalgam.
The attack happened during a period known for high tourist activity, according to regional officials.
In a statement shared on the official Kremlin portal, Putin remarked, “Please accept my deepest condolences on the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack near the city of Pahalgam, the victims of which were peaceful people – citizens of various countries.”
He also extended compassion and encouragement to the affected families, stating, “Please convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured. Respectfully, Vladimir Putin.”
Premier Modi, who is currently abroad on a diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia, vowed justice for the victims.
He made a strong declaration on the platform X, asserting, “They will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.”
The Kashmir region has remained a central point of conflict between India and its neighbor Pakistan.
Since both nations attained independence from British colonial rule in 1947, each has laid claim to the territory, further intensifying regional instability between the two nuclear-capable countries.
