BMW Incorporates DeepSeek into New Cars in China
"This will enhance our Intelligent Personal Assistant with DeepSeek functionality. It will also complement our existing AI capabilities and enable access to information that goes well beyond the vehicle itself," Zipse stated.
In the past, several Chinese automakers have already integrated DeepSeek's popular large language model (LLM) into their systems.
Zipse highlighted the importance of China in driving innovation, especially in AI, adding that BMW is "bringing breakthrough technologies from pioneering local players quickly to the road."
The German carmaker has been ramping up partnerships with Chinese tech firms. Just last week, BMW revealed plans to expand its collaboration with ByteDance to improve AI-driven marketing and customer service. In March, the company partnered with Alibaba to incorporate AI LLM into BMW's future vehicles and joined forces with Huawei to enhance an in-car digital ecosystem designed specifically for the Chinese market.
Auto Shanghai 2025, which runs from April 23 to May 2, has drawn nearly 1,000 companies from 26 countries and regions.
