Tensions Rise as Drone Remnants Discovered in Pakistan
(MENAFN) A drone's remnants were discovered in Punjab province's Chakwal district, according to local media outlet, as three loud blasts were reported. This incident occurs against a backdrop of escalating tensions with neighboring India, and Pakistan has once again shut down its airspace for all commercial flights this Thursday morning, as confirmed by the civil aviation authority.
Police sources, as cited by the broadcaster, indicated that the drone debris was located in the Dhman area of Chakwal. The incident reportedly caused no injuries. Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the drone's crash.
Separately, residents in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, reported hearing at least three explosions in the vicinity of an airport.
Following India's attacks on various sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which Pakistan alleges caused 31 deaths and 57 injuries, tensions have surged. Subsequently, Pakistan asserted that it downed five Indian warplanes and a drone. New Delhi has yet to officially comment on Islamabad's assertions about the downed Indian aircraft, reportedly including three French-made Rafale jets.
