China Pledges to Stand with Russia Against "Coercion"
(MENAFN) During a meeting in Moscow, Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that Beijing and Moscow share a responsibility to stand against unilateral actions and forceful pressure in international affairs. Xi's visit to the Russian capital coincides with events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany on May 9th.
Prior to their discussions on Thursday, Xi lauded the strong relationship between the two nations. He asserted that “China is ready to jointly bear a special responsibility with Russia, as major world powers and permanent members of the UN Security Council, to courageously defend the truth about the history of World War II” in response to what he described as “negative trends of unilateral actions and power-based coercion in the world.”
The Chinese president further commented that the relationship between China and Russia has entered a new phase under their joint "strategic guidance." He observed that "Our political interaction is strengthening, practical cooperation is deepening, and cultural, humanitarian, exchange, and interregional ties are gaining momentum."
