NATO Chiefs Confirm Support for Ukraine
(MENAFN) During the 193rd Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session held in Brussels on Wednesday, NATO’s senior military leaders reiterated their steadfast backing of Ukraine and reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing the alliance’s deterrence and protection strategies.
The session represented an important milestone in the lead-up to the NATO Summit scheduled for June in The Hague.
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the Chair of the Military Committee, inaugurated the session by highlighting the unity among NATO forces.
He described this solidarity as "the bedrock of NATO's collective defense," according to a formal NATO statement.
Admiral Dragone emphasized that the meeting showcased the alliance’s lasting cohesion and underscored the need to provide "unfettered and timely military advice to political leadership, underpinned by collective clarity and decisiveness."
The assembly of defense leaders received operational updates from NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), who addressed the current mission landscape and the alliance's defensive stance.
Additionally, they held talks with Admiral Pierre Vandier, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, who elaborated on the alliance’s defense strategy framework and highlighted the significance of technological advancement and modern capabilities in bolstering NATO’s security architecture.
In the concluding portion of the event, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s Chief of Defense, participated remotely from Kyiv to present an overview of the ongoing combat conditions, as outlined in the NATO release.
