China-UK Forum Spotlights AI Innovation, Charts Collaborative Path

(MENAFN) At the 2025 Sino-UK Entrepreneur Forum on Wednesday, participants lauded China's rapid progress in artificial intelligence (AI) and discussed the vast potential for enhanced collaboration between the two nations.

Co-hosted by The 48 Group in the UK and China Daily, the event was centered around the theme "Smart Decisions for Smart Technologies."

Zheng Zeguang, China's Ambassador to the UK, emphasized the growing AI partnership between the two countries. He pointed out that both nations have engaged in numerous bilateral meetings and exchanges, producing tangible results. Zheng stressed the importance of sustained cooperation in science and technology.

Official data reveals that China is home to more than 4,500 AI companies, with its AI sector valued at nearly 600 billion yuan. In 2024, Chinese firms filed over 61 percent of global AI patent applications, and new industries, business models, and digital innovations accounted for over 18 percent of China's GDP.

Jack Perry, Chairman of The 48 Group, praised the existing tech collaboration between China and the UK. He highlighted successful ventures such as BYD's electric mobility leadership, Alibaba Cloud's smart infrastructure contributions, and Octopus Energy's efforts in clean energy. Perry also pointed out that the UK now attracts more AI venture capital than any other European country, complementing China's strengths.

Expert panel discussions provided insights into how AI is reshaping various sectors, including power supply, green growth, finance, language technologies, automotive design, cloud computing, and advertising.
