Putin, Maduro sign strategic collaboration agreement
The agreement includes a commitment from both Moscow and Caracas to oppose unilateral sanctions, violations of the UN Charter, and any forms of neo-colonialism. The pact also highlights plans to collaborate on global and regional security, counterterrorism, counter-extremism, and the fight against the distortion of history and the glorification of Nazism.
The partnership sets the stage for deeper ties between the two countries, focusing on economic, energy, investment, mineral extraction, transportation, telecommunications, healthcare, and cultural cooperation.
Maduro highlighted that 2025 marks 80 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela. He expressed Venezuela's admiration for Russia, acknowledging the immense effort the Soviet people made to end the “horrific and unlawful war brought about by fascism” during World War II.
The Venezuelan president, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, said they were “honored” to participate in this significant anniversary alongside Russia. Additionally, foreign leaders and representatives from 29 countries are expected to attend Russia's Victory Day celebrations, which will feature the traditional military parade on Red Square.
