Trump Reveals ‘Golden Dome’ Missile Shield Project
He committed to establishing a global shield that incorporates space-based systems capable of thwarting missile threats from any location around the planet.
During a statement delivered from the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump characterized the “cutting-edge” initiative—which carries an estimated price tag of USD175 billion—as a transformative advancement in the safeguarding of the American homeland.
According to him, “This design for the Golden Dome will integrate with our existing defense capabilities and should be fully operational before the end of my term.”
He further emphasized that the completed system would have the capability to intercept missiles, regardless of whether they are fired from distant regions or even from outer space.
The defense framework will merge current military resources with upcoming technologies positioned on land, at sea, and in orbit.
These include space-based sensors and missile interceptors, Trump explained.
However, this proposal has already drawn criticism from Moscow, which has previously condemned similar projects as potentially escalating the militarization of space.
“We’re the only ones that have this – we call it ‘super technology.’ Nobody else has it, and nobody else has anything close to what we have,” Trump declared, though he did not elaborate on the specific technological mechanisms that will make the Golden Dome function.
