Bellingham Is Expected to Undergo Surgery
(MENAFN) Jude Bellingham, aged 21, has been dealing with a persistent shoulder issue since 2023, and Real Madrid has planned his surgery for after the conclusion of the tournament in the United States.
The former Birmingham City midfielder has been using shoulder strapping while playing for both England and his club.
He initially missed two matches for both Madrid and England at the end of 2023 after sustaining a shoulder injury during a match against Rayo Vallecano.
The expanded 32-team Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.
As a result, Bellingham is anticipated to miss the entire preseason and at least the first six weeks of the upcoming season.
This would also mean he would be unavailable for England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September.
On Friday, England head coach Thomas Tuchel will announce his squad for the June World Cup qualifier against Andorra and a friendly against Senegal.
However, there are still questions about whether players participating in the Club World Cup will be included in the squad.
Bellingham had a stellar first season in Spain after joining Real Madrid for EURO115 million from Borussia Dortmund.
He played a key role in helping Madrid secure both the La Liga title and the Champions League, scoring 23 goals in 43 appearances.
