Ruling Coalition Secures Victory in Venezuela’s Elections
Preliminary figures released by the National Electoral Council (CNE) indicated that the GPP captured 82.68 percent of the total vote.
This coalition won a majority of seats in the National Assembly and secured governorships in 23 out of the country’s 24 states.
Voter participation reached 42.6 percent, with the principal opposition group, the Democratic Alliance, receiving 6.25 percent of the votes.
Following them were Alianza UNTC with 5.18 percent, and Alianza Fuerza Vecinal, which attained 2.57 percent.
During a press briefing in Caracas, CNE President Elvis Amoroso stated that the ruling coalition obtained 4,553,484 out of the 5,507,324 ballots cast.
Amoroso characterized the election as "extremely transparent" and expressed gratitude towards international observers for their assistance.
He emphasized, "Venezuela has once again demonstrated the strength of its electoral system, which we believe is among the best in the world."
Local news outlets reported a decisive triumph for the Great Patriotic Pole in both the National Assembly and gubernatorial contests, while opposition parties underperformed relative to expectations.
Opposition figure Maria Corina Machado had earlier called for a boycott, encouraging her followers to abstain due to doubts about the electoral process's transparency.
