Trump Criticizes Putin, Zelensky Amid Russia-Ukraine Drone Strikes
Speaking to reporters just before departing Morristown, New Jersey aboard Air Force One en route to Washington, D.C., Trump voiced his disapproval of Putin’s recent behavior.
"I'm not happy with what Putin's doing," Trump said. He continued, "I don't know what the hell happened to Putin."
Having known Putin for years and once maintaining a good rapport, Trump expressed dismay over the current violence. "I've known him a long time. Always gotten along with him. But he's sending rockets into cities and killing people and I don't like it at all. OK. We're in the middle of talking, and he's shooting rockets into Kiev and other cities. I don't like it at all," he remarked.
These comments came amid fierce exchanges between Russian and Ukrainian forces on Sunday. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting and destroying 110 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions overnight, including 13 over Moscow’s vicinity.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials confirmed that at least 12 people, among them three children, lost their lives and dozens more were wounded during a coordinated missile and drone attack by Russia early Sunday.
Later in the day, Trump took to Truth Social to declare that Putin "has gone absolutely CRAZY!"
Turning his attention to Zelensky, Trump criticized the Ukrainian president’s recent remarks condemning U.S. silence on Russia’s latest strikes, stating that "no favors by talking the way he does." Adding, "Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don't like it, and it better stop," Trump stated, insisting Ukraine should not fault him. "This is Zelensky's, Putin's, and Biden's War, not Trump's."
