Trump Criticizes Zelensky’s Public Statements

(MENAFN) In recent comments, U.S. Leader Donald Trump voiced strong disapproval of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s public criticisms, suggesting they are exacerbating his nation's challenges.

Trump’s reaction followed Zelensky’s accusation that the United States was not offering sufficient assistance, a stance Zelensky argued ultimately benefits Russia.

Posting on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump condemned Zelensky for making diplomatic resolutions to the conflict increasingly challenging.

The president stated that the Ukrainian leader “is doing his country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems. I don’t like it, and it better stop.”

Trump implied that Zelensky’s outspoken remarks were contributing to the tension rather than easing it.

Trump also emphasized that the ongoing war could have been avoided if he had remained in office. He declared, “This is Zelensky’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s.’ I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through gross incompetence and hatred.”

He distanced himself from the conflict, attributing it to the actions and decisions of others.

Zelensky’s original remarks came after a major Russian aerial bombardment.

He censured Western allies, including the United States, for what he considered an inadequate and subdued reaction.

“America’s silence, the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin,” Zelensky remarked, urging for stronger actions and harsher sanctions against Moscow.

This verbal clash unfolded during a period of intensifying hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. The Kremlin has accused Kiev of conducting massive drone attacks, reportedly numbering in the hundreds, between Tuesday and Friday.

One such attack, according to Russian air defense chief Yury Dashkin, occurred during a visit by President Vladimir Putin to the Kursk Region, where his helicopter “was at the epicenter” of a Ukrainian drone strike.
