Russia, India pledge to battle together terrorism

(MENAFN) India and Russia have reaffirmed a strong and united stance against terrorism following a series of high-level discussions between an Indian parliamentary delegation and Russian officials in Moscow. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that both nations expressed a firm and unwavering commitment to jointly combat all forms of terrorism.

The dialogue emphasized deepening cooperation across international platforms such as the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Indian representatives highlighted that Russia’s show of support is rooted in a long-standing and trusted partnership, which is especially vital in light of increasing regional tensions.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs reiterated the country’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and declared its firm opposition to any form of nuclear intimidation.

During the talks, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, a parliamentarian from the DMK party and head of the Indian delegation, outlined India’s rationale for its recent military response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Kashmir, which killed 26 people. She described India’s action as necessary and restrained, reinforcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s position that India would take firm action against terrorism and would not differentiate between perpetrators and their sponsors. “India will not remain silent as it has in the past,” she stated, emphasizing the country’s enduring exposure to security threats.
