US Observes Ukraine War to Adapt to Evolving Drone Warfare
Speaking at the West Point Military Academy graduation on Saturday, he stated that the United States is actively “learning” from the military techniques employed by both sides.
He emphasized the necessity for the country to remain “at the top” as the nature of combat evolves rapidly.
“We are studying it. We are seeing different forms of warfare, we are seeing the drones that are coming down at angles, with speed, with precision. We have never seen anything like that. We are learning from it,” Trump said, highlighting the unprecedented and precise use of drones in the conflict.
The president also urged the graduating cadets to “have the courage to take risks and do things differently” to keep pace with modern advancements in military tactics and strategy.
His remarks underlined the importance of innovation and adaptability in today’s armed forces.
Trump’s statements coincided with a report from a news agency which noted that Russia is currently outperforming Ukraine in “the drone race.”
The report cited advancements in the creation and deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), particularly those utilizing fiber optic technology.
These drones are connected to their operators via ultra-thin fiber optic cables, making them harder to identify or disrupt.
Described by the news agency as “essentially a wire-guided, highly maneuverable killer drone, impervious to jamming, and difficult to track by radio-based drone detector units,” these UAVs are reportedly transforming not only the battlefield environment but also the strategic mindset of troops engaged in the conflict.
The Russian drones are said to be inflicting significant damage on Ukrainian logistical operations and reshaping the dynamics of the war.
