Trump says ‘everything out of Zelensky’s mouth causes problems’

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed frustration with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, accusing him of worsening the situation in Ukraine through his public statements. Trump's comments followed Zelensky's criticism of the U.S. for what he called inadequate support in response to a recent Russian air offensive, suggesting that the silence of Western allies was emboldening Moscow.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said that Zelensky’s remarks were harmful and complicating diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. “Everything out of his mouth causes problems,” Trump said, warning that such rhetoric “better stop.” He emphasized that the ongoing conflict would not have happened if he had been in office, calling it the result of actions by Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and U.S. President Joe Biden.

Zelensky had recently urged Western nations to increase pressure and sanctions on Russia following a significant aerial bombardment by Moscow. He lamented the lack of a strong international response, saying it only encouraged further aggression from Russia.

Meanwhile, fighting has intensified, with Russia accusing Ukraine of launching hundreds of drone attacks over several days. One such attack reportedly occurred while Putin was visiting the Kursk Region. The Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that Ukraine’s actions were aimed at sabotaging renewed peace negotiations.

In retaliation, Russia targeted facilities in Kiev, including a drone and missile factory, a radar center, and a U.S.-supplied Patriot air defense system. Moscow asserted that these strikes were solely aimed at military targets, not civilians.

Although Trump condemned Russia’s escalation, calling Putin “absolutely CRAZY” for launching the strikes, he has avoided imposing new sanctions. According to Axios, Trump recently spoke with Putin and later told European leaders that he believes the Russian president is open to a negotiated solution, stressing that diplomacy remains a viable path.
