Russia Finalizes Draft Peace Proposal to Ukraine
During her regular press briefing on Tuesday, Zakharova revealed that “Russia continues to work on a draft memorandum regarding a future peace treaty, which will outline a number of positions, including the principles of a settlement, the timing of a possible peace agreement, a potential ceasefire.”
She noted that the draft, once complete, will be delivered to the Ukrainian government.
Zakharova also expressed Moscow’s expectation that Ukraine will formulate and submit its own version of the agreement in response.
This diplomatic development follows a phone conversation last week between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, in which both leaders agreed that Russia would take the lead in drafting a document specifying terms for a potential peace accord with Ukraine.
