Indonesia’s BNN Reveals Bold Plan to Lower Drug Abuse Rate

(MENAFN) Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has set an ambitious goal to lower the nation’s drug abuse rate to 1.6 percent by 2029, announced BNN chief Marthinus Hukom on Tuesday.

This target represents a further reduction from the 1.73 percent and 1.7 percent benchmarks scheduled for 2024 and 2025, respectively, Hukom explained.

He highlighted that a strategic planning meeting took place last week to map out the agency’s direction from 2024 through 2029, centering on curbing narcotics consumption across the country.

“The 2025-2029 BNN Strategic Plan is designed in line with the National Medium-term Development Plan and other national policies,” Hukom stated.

The meeting was a vital milestone in formulating BNN’s internal policies for the upcoming five years, focusing on efforts to prevent and dismantle drug abuse and illegal trafficking, he added.
