China-Backed Highway in Saudi Arabia Unveils Partial Launch
Stretching 16.8 kilometers with six lanes, this dual carriageway links Highway 95 directly to the Jubail Industrial Area, dramatically improving transit in the region. The initial phase of 8.1 kilometers is now accessible to vehicles, marking a crucial step toward the highway’s full operational status, which the Chinese firm anticipates by September.
Mahmoud bin Saleh Al-Theeb, CEO of the Royal Commission in Jubail, emphasized the highway’s role in significantly alleviating traffic congestion, boosting transport efficiency, benefiting nearby communities, and injecting fresh energy into the region’s economic growth.
Acknowledging the significant impact of the Chinese company’s efforts, Al-Theeb emphasized that Chinese solutions and technologies have played a vital role in advancing local infrastructure development.
Cheng Junjie, representing the Chinese firm, remarked that the highway “reflects the deepening partnership between our company and the Royal Commission, and serves as a testament to China-Saudi friendship.”
