Police Take Action Over US Mall Shooting
(MENAFN) A shooting took place inside the Brass Mill Center shopping mall in Waterbury, Connecticut, on Tuesday afternoon, leaving multiple individuals injured, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m., sending shockwaves through the local community.
Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo confirmed during a press conference that "all victims were transported to local hospitals and are currently receiving medical treatment," adding, "There are no fatalities at this time."
Authorities are working to manage the situation, and no additional details have been provided about the nature of the injuries.
The police urged the public to "avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to respond effectively and ensure everyone’s safety."
Investigations are ongoing, and it remains unclear how many individuals were responsible for the shooting, with no arrests made so far.
This incident follows a series of other recent violent attacks.
In June 2024, a gunman opened fire in a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, claiming the lives of four people and injuring ten others, including two officers.
