Law enforcement react to shooting at US mall
The incident took place around 4:40 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency personnel. Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo confirmed during a press briefing that all the victims had been transported to area hospitals and were receiving medical care. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities at this time.
In a statement, the Waterbury Police Department urged the public to stay clear of the area to allow emergency services to operate safely and efficiently.
Authorities have yet to determine how many suspects were involved, and no arrests have been made so far.
The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents at public venues in the U.S. In June 2024, a gunman killed four people and injured ten others, including two police officers, at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas. A year earlier, in May 2023, a far-right attacker fatally shot eight people and wounded seven at a mall in Allen, Texas.
