Shooting at Connecticut Mall Injures Several, Police Respond
The incident took place around 4:40 p.m. at the shopping complex.
“All victims were transported to local hospitals and are currently receiving medical treatment,” Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said during a press briefing. “There are no fatalities at this time.”
The Waterbury Police Department issued a statement urging, “We urge the public to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to respond effectively and ensure everyone’s safety.”
Authorities have not yet determined the number of assailants involved, and no arrests have been announced.
This latest event follows other recent mass shootings, including one in June 2024 when a gunman attacked a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, killing four and injuring ten, among them two police officers.
Similarly, in May 2023, a far-right extremist opened fire in a mall in Allen, Texas, killing eight shoppers and wounding seven others.
