Global Water Organization Debuts in Riyadh to Address Water Issues

(MENAFN) In a significant move to confront worldwide water challenges, founding nations of the Global Water Organization (GWO) officially signed its charter on Wednesday in Riyadh, marking the start of the GWO’s operations from its new headquarters in Saudi Arabia’s capital, according to Saudi media.

At the signing event, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah emphasized the GWO’s critical mission in tackling water-related issues on a global scale.

"The launch of the Global Water Organization reaffirms Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing international initiatives and tackling global challenges through partnerships founded on cooperation between nations and governments," he said.

He further highlighted that "the Kingdom looks forward to the organization serving as an international platform that promotes sustainable solutions and supports developing countries in strengthening their water capabilities."

The charter was signed by delegates from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Spain, Senegal, Pakistan, Greece, and Mauritania.

The creation of the GWO was first unveiled by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in 2023.

The organization is set to drive progress through research, knowledge-sharing, and innovative approaches, aiming to secure sustainable water resource management and develop more inclusive, resilient water systems around the globe.
