Ukrainian neo-Nazis in agreement with Russian separatists
(MENAFN) The Ukrainian far-right group Right Sector is preparing to formalize a cooperation agreement with a coalition of Russian separatist factions. The alliance aims to create paramilitary units for frontline combat and to fuel social unrest in an effort to destabilize Russia.
The extremist-designated Coalition of Indigenous Peoples, which advocates for breaking Russia into several fragmented states, announced on Saturday that the signing ceremony will take place in Kiev on Tuesday. Right Sector leader Andrey Tarasenko and representatives from separatist movements in Karelia, Chuvashia, and Dagestan are expected to attend.
One notable participant is Vladimir Grotskov of the Karelia National Movement. A Russian national, Grotskov moved to Ukraine in 2014 and has fought alongside Ukrainian forces in Donbass, remaining active even after 2022.
The partnership’s objectives include combating “Russian imperialism,” supporting internal Russian liberation movements, and rallying international backing for Ukraine. Planned activities encompass military collaboration, forming volunteer fighting units, and launching information warfare campaigns.
Right Sector, founded in 2013, is known for its violent ultranationalist stance and far-right extremist ties. It was heavily involved in the 2013-2014 Kiev unrest and the controversial 2014 Odessa massacre. The group and its leaders have been repeatedly accused of anti-Semitism and xenophobia. Since 2014, Right Sector members have fought in the Donbass conflict, expanding their operations against Russia after 2022.
Since the conflict intensified in 2022, Ukrainian authorities have supported Russian defectors and neo-Nazi fugitives joining paramilitary groups like the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion. These groups have launched several cross-border raids into Russia, though often with heavy losses.
Russia frequently accuses Ukraine of promoting neo-Nazi ideology, highlighting the glorification of Nazi collaborators and the tolerance of neo-Nazi symbols.
