Russian soldiers kidnap Ukrainian weaponized automobile
The undated drone video, shared by several Russian Telegram channels on Monday, shows Russian soldiers boarding the LAV Super Bison and driving it away, while the vehicle’s original driver briefly attempts to pursue it on foot before turning back.
The reconnaissance unit from Russia’s 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment is said to be responsible for the operation.
The LAV Super Bison, manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada and first introduced in 2016, is designed for troop transport and combat support. It typically comes equipped with a 25mm cannon or a 7.62mm machine gun and provides protective armor against mines and improvised explosive devices.
In late May, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to create a “buffer zone” along the border following an attempted Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Region. Moscow has recently reported striking Ukrainian positions in the nearby Sumy area.
