Israel strikes residential area in Tehran
Iranian state media confirmed the strikes but did not provide details regarding the specific targets or any casualties.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli army issued urgent evacuation directives to residents of Tehran’s District 3—a key area that houses both government buildings and several foreign embassies. “In the coming hours, the IDF (army) will operate in the region to attack military structures of the Iranian regime, as it has done across Tehran in recent days,” the army said. “Your presence in this area puts your life in danger,” it added.
This marked the first time civilians in Tehran have been told to evacuate since the violent escalation began on Friday, when Israel launched widespread air raids on Iranian military and nuclear sites. In retaliation, Tehran fired missiles at several Israeli cities, sparking the most intense clashes to date between the two countries.
Since the exchange began, Israeli officials reported at least 24 fatalities and hundreds of injuries from Iranian missile attacks. Iranian authorities stated that the Israeli strikes have killed at least 224 people and wounded over 1,000.
