Israel works on demolishing Iranian nuclear facilities before discussions
Speaking at a press briefing at the Israeli Embassy, Halperin explained that Israel is targeting both the infrastructure and individuals involved in Iran’s nuclear efforts, as well as those posing military threats to Israel.
When asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s offer to mediate talks between Israel and Iran, Halperin emphasized that Israel’s current priority is stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions and that it is too soon to discuss any negotiation details.
She said the main focus remains on addressing Iran’s capability and intent to pursue nuclear weapons. Once these critical issues are resolved, Israel will consider the next steps.
Regarding whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s calls for Iranians to overthrow their government indicated an intention to provoke a coup, Halperin denied this, stating that such a goal is not part of Israel’s military objectives. She affirmed that only the Iranian people themselves will decide their leadership.
Iran condemned the Israeli strikes as unprovoked and accused Israel of sabotaging US-brokered nuclear talks facilitated by Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Iran did not start the conflict but vowed to defend its land and sovereignty “to the last drop of blood.” Tehran continues to maintain its nuclear program is peaceful.
