US Vessels Deploy Amid Iran Dispute
According to satellite data examined by open-source analysts, including Ian Ellis on X, the fleet presently stationed within the operational zone of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) includes at least one littoral combat vessel, four mine-clearing ships, and the special operations support vessel M/V Ocean Trader.
This maneuver signals a realignment to vital points across the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman—strategic zones within CENTCOM’s jurisdiction, as commentators explained to the news agency.
Earlier this week, the USS Nimitz was reassigned from the South China Sea to the Middle East.
This redeployment has increased the number of US aircraft carriers in the region to two, against the backdrop of the ongoing confrontation between Israel and Iran.
Simultaneously, dozens of US Air Force refueling planes were stationed in Europe over the weekend, reportedly as a preventive measure to bolster any forthcoming operations in the Middle East.
This was confirmed by two defense sources, as cited by a news outlet on Monday.
“Consistent with the duty to protect US forces in the Middle East, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth directed the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility to sustain our defensive posture and safeguard American personnel,” a defense official conveyed to the news agency.
