Early in extra time, Gianluca Prestianni of Benfica received a red card in the second minute, reducing the Portuguese side to ten players.
Taking advantage of their numerical superiority, Chelsea intensified their offense, scoring three additional goals through Christopher Nkunku (108th minute), Pedro Neto (114th minute), and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (117th minute), sealing a 4-1 win.
Chelsea will next face Brazilian club Palmeiras in the quarterfinal round.
