Trump, Netanyahu Set to Meet at White House
(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump is set to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday. Netanyahu departed Tel Aviv on Sunday for Washington, DC, aiming to discuss critical regional matters, including a potential ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
This marks Netanyahu’s third trip to the US within six months. During his visit, he is also scheduled to engage with top US officials and bipartisan members of Congress.
Earlier, Trump told reporters there is a "good chance" a deal involving a Gaza hostage release and ceasefire with Hamas could be finalized this week.
When asked about his message for Netanyahu, Trump stated: "We're working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent deal with Iran."
Netanyahu’s visit is expected to ignite widespread protests. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators plan to denounce his presence in the US capital and call for an end to American support for Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.
Despite international demands for a ceasefire, Israel has continued a brutal offensive in Gaza, resulting in over 57,400 Palestinian deaths—predominantly women and children—since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its conflict in the Gaza Strip.
