Israel Targets Houthi Port in Yemen with Airstrikes
According to the IDF, the operation aimed to dismantle a range of military infrastructure. Targets included engineering vehicles involved in port reconstruction, fuel containers, naval vessels allegedly used for hostile actions against Israel and maritime traffic near the port, along with other Houthi-controlled assets.
"The targets struck demonstrate how the Houthi terrorist regime utilizes civilian infrastructure for military and terrorist purposes," the IDF stated, accusing the Houthis of using the port as a conduit for Iranian-supplied weaponry.
In a separate announcement, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz affirmed Israel’s hardline response to renewed threats. "The IDF vigorously enforces any attempt to restore terrorist infrastructures that were attacked in the past," Katz said. "The Houthis will pay a heavy price for the missiles they fired at Israel."
Earlier Monday, a media outlet, reported multiple Israeli air raids on Hodeidah port installations. Local residents told media that explosions shook the city, with flames and thick smoke visible miles away. Ambulances were seen racing toward the site following the strikes.
Houthi authorities have not yet released casualty figures.
Eyewitnesses and port workers confirmed that the airstrikes hit boats, naval vessels, fuel tanks, and engineering machinery stationed at the port. According to Houthi media, the targets were largely the same as those previously bombed by Israel in earlier assaults on the port.
Quoting unnamed Houthi officials, the outlet stated that the Israeli attacks "would not stop the group from targeting Israeli cities, Ben Gurion Airport, ports, and Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea."
