South Korea Seeks Deeper Diplomatic Ties with China
This declaration came shortly after Foreign Minister Cho Hyun characterized China as “somewhat problematic” for neighboring countries.
Clarifying those comments, the South Korean presidential office emphasized the country’s commitment to deepening ties with China, stating: "We're seeking to develop our bilateral relations with China based on the staunch South Korea-U.S. alliance."
In a recent interview with media, Foreign Minister Cho highlighted concerns over China’s increasing assertiveness, which has raised vigilance among nearby nations. He described the situation as a "problem of China becoming somewhat problematic" for the region, as reported by media.
The presidency explained that Cho’s statements were made within the framework of South Korea’s ongoing efforts to foster a stable and prosperous relationship with China that benefits regional peace and the well-being of its people.
Furthermore, Cho reaffirmed that President Lee Jae Myung’s government is committed to maintaining positive relations with Beijing. The administration will continue collaborative efforts with the US and Japan, aiming to engage China constructively rather than isolate it.
