Germany blames Israel for ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Gaza
(MENAFN) The German government stressed on Saturday that Israel is responsible for ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, with support from the UN and other aid groups.
Government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius said Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul updated the Federal Security Cabinet by phone after his recent trip to Israel and the occupied West Bank.
Kornelius noted that while some initial and limited progress has been made in aid delivery to Gaza, it remains far from enough to address the urgent crisis.
He emphasized that Israel’s duty to provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Gaza persists, involving cooperation with the UN and humanitarian organizations.
The German government also voiced concern about reports that large amounts of aid supplies have been confiscated by Hamas and other criminal factions within Gaza.
During his visit, Wadephul met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He also visited al-Taybeh near Ramallah and engaged with humanitarian representatives active in the region.
