Somali forces murder one senior commanders of al-Shabab's group
The Defense Ministry confirmed that Hussein Moallim Hassan, a key member of the al-Shabab terrorist group for more than 15 years and one of its top leaders, was killed on Saturday night.
The ministry said that Moallim had been instrumental in planning and carrying out attacks against civilians in Somalia’s central and southern regions. It added that his elimination provides a strategic boost to the ongoing campaign aimed at weakening al-Shabab, including its leadership.
Somali forces have pledged to intensify both air and ground operations to target al-Shabab militants across the central and southern parts of the country.
