S. Korea’s Lee Public Approval Rating Surges to 69.1 Percent
(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's public approval rating surged 3.9 percentage points week-over-week to reach 69.1 percent, fresh polling data released Monday revealed.
Negative evaluations of Lee's governance performance dropped 4.2 percentage points to 29.2 percent, according to computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) conducted by domestic polling firm Flower Research.
The ruling liberal Democratic Party's support climbed 2.1 percentage points to 54.6 percent, while the conservative opposition People Power Party's approval rating slipped 1.6 percentage points to 28.6 percent.
Backing for the minor left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party and the minor rightist New Reform Party stood at 1.6 percent and 2.3 percent respectively during the survey period.
A separate automated response system (ARS) survey by the same pollster demonstrated Lee's approval rating advanced 3.7 percentage points to 62.5 percent last week compared to the prior week.
The CATI methodology surveyed 1,004 eligible voters while the ARS polled 1,011 voters, both conducted from Friday through Saturday. Each poll carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points with a 95 percent confidence level.
