US attack on Venezuela leaves one hundred people dead
Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said that President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were injured during the assault carried out on Saturday. He paid tribute to Maduro, Flores, and those who lost their lives in what he described as a U.S. military operation.
“Venezuela will not surrender because it is a nation with history and a legacy,” Cabello said during a televised address.
He added that, “The whole world now knows that Nicolás Maduro is a prisoner of war and the United States violated all the norms of international coexistence.”
According to the ministry, U.S. forces carried out airstrikes in northern areas of the country, while special operations units conducted a raid in the capital, Caracas, during which Maduro and Flores were seized and transported to the United States.
Both were later brought before a court in New York on drug- and weapons-related charges, where they entered pleas of not guilty.
