Pakistani FM Heads to China as Islamabad Pushes for Mideast Peace Talks
The trip to Beijing comes at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Monday.
Highlighting the close ties between the two countries, the statement noted, "Pakistan and China enjoy an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, characterized by close coordination and regular consultations on regional and international issues," underscoring their ongoing cooperation.
It further explained that the visit will serve as an opportunity for both sides to engage in "in-depth" discussions on regional developments, along with bilateral and global matters of shared concern.
The visit follows a quadrilateral meeting hosted by Islamabad a day earlier, which brought together the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to encourage dialogue between the United States and Iran.
China has already expressed its backing for Pakistan’s diplomatic initiative, although the official statement did not directly address the ongoing indirect exchanges between Washington and Tehran facilitated through Islamabad.
